Somali President holds a meeting with Turkish counterpart to strengthen the bilateral ties

The incumbent Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Thursday held high level meeting with Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The meeting was held in the presidential palace in Ankara.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to consolidate the bilateral ties between Somalia and Turkey which is based on brotherhood and the strategic cooperation which is crucial for the two countries.

The two leaders have reached a common understanding on the completion and the implementation of previous accords and the cooperation between the two countries.

President Hassan and Turkish President Erdogan held discussions in length the anti-terrorism operations against the terrorist groups which pose a real threat to the stability and development of the region.

The two leaders have lauded the productive cooperation between the two countries.

They have also discussed in length when it comes to the rebuilding of Somalia’s robust National Army and weakening the operational capacity of the terrorist groups.

The Somali President has expressed deep thanks and appreciations to the Turkish government and its people for providing unwavering support to Somalia.

He pointed out the crucial role Turkey has played when it comes to reforming Somalia’s security agencies.

He also commended Turkey’s unwavering support regarding the war against terrorist groups.

On his side, Turkish President Erdogan has pointed out that his country will continue the support it provides to Somalia particularly in the areas of combating extremism, technical and humanitarian support.
