The Ground Forces Commander of Somalia’s National Army, Brigadier General, Sahal Abdullahi Omar, arrived in Teedaan settlement in the Hiiraan region, where he conducted an inspection visit to the government troops on the frontlines and to boost their morale. He was accompanied by the Commander of Training and Doctrine of the Somali National Army, General Ahmed Isse Ahmed, and other senior military officials.
The Commander of the 27th Division of the Somali National Army, Colonel Ali Agey, accorded a warm reception to the military delegation led by the Ground Forces Commander, further briefing them on the general security in the area and the operations against the militant group of Al-Shabab.
Brigadier General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, commended the sacrifice and the bravery that the troops demonstrated, further urging them to remain on high alert and to continue their preparedness and the prevention of Al-Shabab’s attacks.
Meanwhile, he praised the troops by saying that they exerted maximum efforts regarding the ongoing offensive against Al-Shabab that are underway in parts of the Hiiraan province.
The Somali National Army is currently carrying out anti-Al-Shabab operations in parts of the Hiiraan region, while the government troops are trying their utmost to remove Al-Shabab from areas under their control in the Hiiraan region.
Hiiraan is among regions in the country where government troops are engaging in a war with Al-Shabab militants, while the military operations are focusing on maintaining the security in these areas as well as the major highways.
The troops also are working to boost their defense positions on the frontlines in order to exert military pressure on the militant group of Al-Shabab. There are no official reports on the number of casualties resulting from the latest operations that took place in parts of the Hiiraan region.
