The Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) in close collaboration with international partners carried out a planned airstrike that took place in the Warisse area, which lies 25 km from Jawhar city in Middle Shabelle province.

The airstrike successfully eliminated 9 Al-Shabab militants including two senior Al-Shabab commanders.

The two Al-Shabab commanders killed in the airstrike were identified as Ahmed Ali Jima’ale who was the head of Al-Shabab militants in Jawhar District, and Mr. Geedi Mohamed Nur Adde-who was responsible for the militant group of Al-Shabab as the head of Dumaaye and Dabagaalo areas.

The agency stated that the two ringleaders’ information and their movements had been monitored for some time before the operation was carried out.

Additionally, seven members of Al-Shabab were successfully eliminated in the airstrike; they were reportedly part of what the group calls the “Hisba” (enforcement unit) in the Warisse area.

The agency reaffirmed that the operation is part of the ongoing efforts which are aimed at degrading the capabilities of Al-Shabab, eliminating Al-Shabab commanders and demolishing the networks the group uses to organize and conduct acts of terrorism.
