At least six people were killed and ten others were injured in a recent raid carried out by suspected Al-Shabab gunmen. The attack targeted a passenger vehicle on the outskirts of Mandera town in northeastern Kenya, near the border with Somalia. This information was confirmed by Kenyan police. The incident occurred yesterday noon in Beer-Awayon village, approximately 8 km from Mandera town. The gunmen ambushed a passenger vehicle carrying at least 14 people and opened fire. According to the police report, an investigation has been launched and Kenyan security forces are currently conducting a manhunt for the suspects. The police report also states that the suspected Al-Shabab gunmen have fled into the border area in Somalia. The police chief stated that the ambush targeted a passenger vehicle traveling from Mandera town to the Arabia area. The passengers were family members on their way to a religious ceremony. Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, security forces suspect that the Al-Shabab group is responsible.
