The Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, Brigadier General Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan, has officially opened a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme designed to prepare police officers to become instructors capable of training future generations of personnel.
The training forms part of the Police Force’s broader efforts to strengthen professional skills, institutional capacity, and the quality of policing through the development of qualified officers who can transfer their knowledge and expertise to others.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Brigadier General Abdirahman said the programme was an important component of the force’s ongoing reform and organizational development efforts.
“We want to review our police force and continue our efforts to strengthen its performance and organization,” he said. “This requires us to produce and prepare officers who can teach and serve as instructors for the force.”
He added that the programme would focus on developing educated young officers capable of contributing to the long-term growth of the Police Force by passing on the knowledge and skills they have acquired.
“As part of our plan, we aim to develop educated young officers who can pass on the knowledge they have acquired to the Police Force,” the Commander said.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the Police Force’s internal training capacity by creating a pool of qualified instructors who can support continuous professional development and ensure that knowledge and expertise are sustained within the institution.
The programme highlights the Police Command’s emphasis on investing in human capital as part of its wider efforts to improve the organization, preparedness, and professional standards of the Somaliland Police Force.
