Members of Al-Shabaab abducted nearly ten aid agency workers in the Raar area—located 10 km from Buur Hakaba district in the Bay region—while they were transporting aid, according to various sources who spoke to Mustaqbal Media.
It is reported that at the time of their abduction, the workers were administering and providing other forms of aid, but the abducting group forcibly took them away from the site, according to available information.
Aid agencies operate major humanitarian relief centers in the Buur Hakaba district of the Bay region (Southwest State) from where assistance is distributed to nearby villages and settlements.
There has been no statement from Buur Hakaba district administration, security officials, or agencies employing the abducted workers—who were reportedly taken by Al-Shabaab to areas under the group’s control.
