Fighting between two related clans sharing the area has been ongoing for a second day in the Cowsweyne locality of the Galgaduud region, with reports indicating casualties—both dead and wounded.
The conflict erupted specifically in the village of Laanraydab—part of the Ali Afrax area in Galcad district—reportedly stemming from a dispute over agricultural land located in the village.
Local residents report that the fighting has entered its second day, with both sides utilizing various types of weaponry. While official casualty figures have not yet been confirmed, locals state that there are both fatalities and injuries, with the total number of casualties exceeding seven people.
Some of the wounded have reportedly been transported to towns outside the conflict zone to receive medical care.
Tension is also palpable in areas surrounding the battle site; both sides are reportedly mobilizing forces, stockpiling weapons, and calling in reinforcements from other districts and villages.
Consequently, the situation remains highly volatile, and there are fears that the conflict could escalate further unless an immediate mediation effort is undertaken between the two sides. Traditional elders, community leaders, and local authorities are urged to intervene between the warring parties to prevent further loss of life. Clashes stemming from land disputes and inter-clan conflicts have been reported periodically in parts of the Galgaduud region. Previous reports indicate that such conflicts have resulted in deaths, injuries, and displacement, and tensions could escalate further if both sides receive reinforcements and additional weaponry.
To date, no official statement has been received from the Galmudug administration or security agencies detailing the fighting in Cowsweyne and Laanraydab, and independent confirmation regarding the exact number of casualties is still pending
