Somalia’s Foreign Affairs Minister and International Cooperation, Mr. Abdisalan Abdi Ali, attended the launching ceremony of the 2026 Korea-Africa Ministers’ Meeting in Seoul. This high-level meeting brought together Foreign Ministers and senior officials from countries in Africa and South Korea to discuss ways to further develop bilateral cooperation, promote sustainable growth, and accelerate common interests in the fields of trade, investment, technology, and international cooperation. During the meeting, Minister Abdisalan delivered a speech calling for strengthened cooperation between African countries and South Korea to address international challenges. He emphasized the importance of cooperation on issues such as climate change, food security, digital transformation, and economic opportunities for the community. Additionally, he stated that the Somali Federal Government is committed to strengthening multilateral cooperation and developing effective partnerships that contribute to peace, community resilience, economic growth, and shared prosperity. Somalia’s participation in this meeting demonstrates the government’s commitment to expanding diplomatic and economic relations with friendly countries, with a top priority on attracting investment, developing innovation, and strengthening government institutions. The Korea-Africa Ministers’ Meeting is an important platform for strengthening dialogue and cooperation between African countries and the Republic of Korea, while facing challenges and promoting sustainable development and equal prosperity. The meeting focused on consolidating the strategic bilateral ties between Egypt and Somalia, with discussions on further developing cooperation in the areas of politics, economy, security, and other important issues for both countries. The Somali FM expressed appreciation to the Egyptian government for its support, particularly in protecting Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and strengthening government institutions. The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, confirmed the government’s commitment to continuing support and cooperation with Somalia, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the historic ties between the two countries. The meeting is part of diplomatic efforts to strengthen relations between Somalia and Egypt, as both sides expressed a desire to expand cooperation and mutual interests.
