The State Minister for Defense—who is also the Acting Minister of Defence—MP Omar Ali Abdi, yesterday received a delegation from the African Union Counter-Terrorism Centre (AUCTC), led by the Centre’s Director, Mr. Idriss Mounir Lallali.
The meeting focused on strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation, assessing the capacities and needs of national institutions, and enhancing the coordination of efforts to address the threat of terrorism.
The State Minister emphasized the importance of aligning African Union support with national priorities and Somalia-led initiatives regarding the country’s security and stabilization.
He also noted that leveraging Somalia’s expertise and experience in counter-terrorism is crucial for strengthening the African Union’s efforts to prevent and combat terrorism.
