The Galmudug Police Command stated that police forces repelled an attack launched by armed clan-based militias on a checkpoint in the Jiiro-Caweer area, which falls under the Godinlabe district of the Galgaduud region.
According to a press release issued by the Galmudug Police Command, the attack occurred on September 14, 2026, at approximately 11:10 PM, while police forces were manning the checkpoint and carrying out security duties. The police reported that they successfully repelled the attack and subsequently conducted an operation in the area to ensure security and restore stability.
During the operation, as stated in the release, security forces apprehended some of the militias involved in the attack; the Police Command indicated that these individuals would soon be brought before a competent court.
The Command also stated that the situation in the Jiiro-Caweer area is currently calm, with security forces continuing to maintain security. Galmudug Police Commander Colonel Khalif Abdulle Maalin issued a warning to militias he stated were engaged in activities undermining the region’s security and stability. He urged them to desist from such actions, warning that if they persisted, they would face stern measures in accordance with the law.
