Today, intense airstrikes believed to have been carried out by U.S. forces targeted areas where ISIS fighters were stationed. Reports from the area indicate that the airstrikes followed armed clashes between ISIS fighters and Puntland troops, which occurred both today and yesterday. Specifically, the airstrikes took place in the Miiraale well area, where Puntland troops were attempting to remove ISIS fighters from their bases. According to security sources, these airstrikes are part of the military support that the U.S. is providing to Puntland security forces. The troops have reportedly faced strong resistance from the ISIS group, making it difficult to drive them out of the areas they occupy. While the number of casualties resulting from the airstrikes has not been officially released, videos recorded by infantry soldiers on the frontlines show two heavy explosions in the suspected area where ISIS fighters were present. After Puntland troops withdrew from the Togga Baallade area near Bosaso, the ISIS group took advantage of the situation and emerged from their underground caves, expanding their presence in the areas where heavy clashes took place.
