Puntland’s defense forces in Somalia have announced that they have regained control of the Miiraale area after engaging in armed clashes with ISIS fighters. According to Puntland officers, one soldier was killed during the clashes. The fighting occurred in the Miiraale area, where Puntland security forces had previously retreated and ISIS fighters had returned. The Puntland security forces, who had planned to conduct operations in the area, were met with a surprise attack from ISIS fighters, resulting in a several-hour-long battle. Puntland officers confirmed the death of an ISIS foreign fighter and stated that they have successfully taken control of the area where the clashes occurred. These clashes occurred after Puntland security forces increased their operations against ISIS fighters, particularly in areas where Puntland soldiers had recently withdrawn following explosions carried out by the ISIS group in Al-Miskaad.
