The Afar National Democratic Party (ANDP) began its conference yesterday in Semera, the capital of the regional state.

More than 1,000 members of the party are in attendance of the conference.

Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed last week held discussions with the leadership of the regional state and Central Committee of the party.

The discussions focused on how to cascade the reforms taking place at the national level to the regional level.

As a result of their deliberations, they agreed that in order to make the reforms much more successful, veteran party officials will make space for new leadership to takeover.

In addition, it was also agreed that all levels of leadership will work closely to ensure the region’s peace and security and to also enable the people of the region to full beneficiaries of the developments.

The leaders gave their word to ensure youth are included and that questions raised pertaining to democratization and development are adequately answered.
