The President of the Somali Regional State (SRS), Mustafe Muxumed Cumar, inaugurated the One-Stop Service Center (MESOB) and the Smart City Center in Jigjiga; these facilities are designed to streamline public services and enhance security in the capital.
The MESOB center consolidates various services that the residents of Jigjiga require from government agencies. This system is expected to facilitate access to services, reduce the time and effort citizens expend, and improve the efficiency and quality of service delivery.
Meanwhile, the Smart City Center utilizes modern technology and security cameras to monitor conditions across the city, bolster safety, and accelerate emergency response times.
The camera system installed at the center currently comprises 20 cameras. Two of these are capable of monitoring visuals at a range of up to 10 kilometers, while four others can each cover a distance of up to five kilometers. The remaining cameras cover distances ranging from 500 meters to one kilometer. The administration plans to increase the number of cameras to 158 to expand security monitoring coverage and strengthen the protection of Jigjiga city. Implementing this plan is expected to enhance the administration’s capacity to monitor security conditions and respond to incidents within the capital.
Additionally, the Jigjiga city administration has procured 10 electric vehicles designated for service delivery and security operations. This move is part of the administration’s plans to modernize its vehicle fleet and streamline municipal service operations.
The establishment of the MESOB and Smart City centers is part of the efforts by the Somali Regional State (DDS) government and the Jigjiga city administration to improve public services and expand the use of modern technology. Both centers aim to contribute to building a city characterized by accessible, efficient, and reliable services, supported by a modern security monitoring system.
