BERBERA– Three fishing vessels have been arrested in Somaliland territorial waters after patrols conducted by Somaliland’s coast guards. The vessels were brought to port and are being investigated by local authorities for illegal fishing in Somaliland territorial waters.

The vessels have been in captivity for two weeks awaiting the result of a probe launched by Somaliland authority. The vessels are in the fishing department of Berbera port better known as Net Fish. Reports said that the vessels were heading to Eyl, a town in Puntland, a neighboring regional state in Somalia.

  1. Can anyone tell me if these detained vessels are part a fleet called Al Wesam? The Al Wesam ships were (and seem still to be) Thai owned and until recently Somali flagged and I am investigating this fleet.
