Dervish troops, who had been stationed in the Awdiinle area since the removal of former South West State President Abdiasis Laftagaren, have finally returned to Baidoa. This successful return was made possible through the efforts of the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Mr. Mahad Mohamed Salad, Somalia’s Police Commissioner, General Asad Osman Abdullahi, and officials from the Somali Federal Government and South West State. The Head of the Intelligence Agency and the Police Chief held meetings with the officers and commanders of the South West State Dervish troops, urging them to continue their responsibilities for the nation. They have assured the troops that the government will pay all their missing rights and promised to provide them with the same rights as the national army. The officers leading the South West State Dervish troops expressed their gratitude for the efforts of the government officials and stated their readiness to carry out their national duties. Finally, the Dervish troops, along with their officers and commanders, have successfully returned to their military bases in Baidoa. The Somali police force has officially taken over security responsibility in Baidoa, while the Somali troops are tasked with maintaining security on the outskirts of the town to reinforce defense positions in the town and surrounding areas. A night curfew has been imposed, and measures have been put in place to ban carrying weapons in the town. Security forces are conducting search and check operations on people entering or leaving the town to prevent any threats to stability. Meanwhile, South West State is preparing for elections to choose its new leadership after the removal of former President Abdiasis Laftagaren from power.
