Mogadishu, Somalia — The Minister of Defense, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, chaired the monthly meeting of the Communications for Stabilization Task Force on Saturday in Mogadishu.

The high-level gathering brought together key government communications focal points to enhance coordination and messaging efforts in support of stabilization and early recovery initiatives in newly liberated areas across Somalia.

The meeting, which is part of ongoing efforts to reinforce state authority and community trust in recovered regions, focused on harmonizing public communication strategies, countering misinformation, and promoting government-led recovery activities.

Participants discussed progress made in recent months and explored ways to strengthen public outreach, particularly in districts where Somali security forces have regained control from Al-Shabaab militants.

Fiqi underscored the critical role of strategic communication in reinforcing stabilization gains, building public confidence, and supporting civilian engagement. “Our efforts on the battlefield must be matched with clear, coordinated messaging that informs communities, addresses their concerns, and demonstrates the presence and commitment of the government,” he said.

Representatives from the Ministries of Information, Interior, Humanitarian Affairs, and regional administrations participated in the session, along with technical experts from international partners supporting Somalia’s stabilization agenda.

The Task Force agreed on a set of priority actions, including the deployment of mobile communication teams, strengthening local media partnerships, and ensuring timely dissemination of accurate information about government services and recovery programs.

This initiative is aligned with the Federal Government of Somalia’s broader National Stabilization Strategy, aimed at restoring governance, security, and essential services in conflict-affected regions.
