The Somali National Army (SNA) Commander of the Ground Forces, General Sahal Abdilahi Omar, on Thursday embarked on an inspection tour to the Somali troops stationed in Adan Yabal district after attacks from Alshabab. The visit of the Ground Forces Commander of the Somali troops was aimed at boosting the moral of the SNA troops. Mr. Sahal pledged to intensify the operations against Alshabab militant group . He said that the Somali troops are committed to liberate and take full control of large swathes in Middle Shabelle region from the terrorist organization. Sahal who delivered a speech to the troops, urged them to diligently execute their national duties. He also expressed his confidence over the capability of Somali troops in defeating the enemy. He also spoke about the importance of protecting the local residents in liberated areas. He pointed out that it is necessary for the Somali troops to gain the confidence of the local residents in order to succeed in the operations.
He said: ” The Somali populace has high hopes, and I want you to be the victor.” He urged the troops to strongly fight against the Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist group of Alshabab. He further added that Alshabab waged war against Somali troops for years. However, the Somali troops are faced with a problem which is to keep Alshabab militant group at bay when it comes to recapturing the liberated areas. The Somali army succeeded its operations in which they liberated from Alshabab fighters many districts in Middle Shabelle region and Galmudug. Al Shabab increased its attacks against gov’t troops which is a problematic to the ongoing efforts to stabilize the security of these regions.
