The Somali Civil Aviation Authority has stated that operations at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport are proceeding normally, dismissing circulated reports claiming the airport would close in the coming days.

In a statement issued today, Monday, October 5, the Authority confirmed that there have been no changes to airport operations and that scheduled flights are proceeding as planned.

The Authority noted that the reports regarding the airport’s closure did not originate from official sources, urging the public to obtain information concerning flights and airport operations solely through the Somali Civil Aviation Authority’s official channels.

This news emerges amidst reports in Mogadishu that leaders from countries contributing troops to the African Union mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) are expected to arrive in the city.

These nations are among the “Troop Contributing Countries” (TCC)—states that provide military personnel for the peacekeeping mission in Somalia.

To date, the Somali Civil Aviation Authority has not announced any changes to flight schedules or operations at Aden Adde International Airport. The agency urged the public to avoid unverified reports and to rely on official information issued by the relevant authorities.
