Fierce fighting broke out on Wednesday in Labogaras district which is under Addale administration in Middle Shabelle region. The fighting erupted between Somali National Army backed by local clan forces and Alshabab fighters. The gov’t troops supported by local clan forces launched an offensive against Al-Shabab fighters. The gov’t forces inflicted heavy casualties on the Jihadist group. It is reported that several Al-Shabab fighters were killed during the clashes between SNA and Al-Shabab.
The exact number of casualties of both sides are not known as far as the confrontations are concerned. Reports indicate that the gov’t troops and local clan fighters sustained injuries during the confrontations. The gov’t troops recaptured districts that were under Al-Shabab control. The Somali troops vowed to continue the anti-terrorism operations which are aimed at driving out Al-Shabab remnants from Middle Shabelle region.
