The National Consultative Conference (NCC) which was held in Mogadishu and lasted for two days starting from the 6-7 May, 2025 was wrapped up.
The NCC was crucial in carrying out vital reforms in political, security and the state rebuilding in Somalia.
The Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud chaired the (NCC).
NCC is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the political consultations between the Federal Gov’t and the Federal Member States.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed on the national security, the election process and the development of the Federal System.
The National Security Adviser briefed the leaders on the ongoing war with the terrorist groups and the plan in place to flush out from terrorist groups areas that they recently carried out insecurity acts.
The current Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission gave full explanation the voter registration which is underway smoothly and the preparations in Banadir region for the upcoming local council elections.
The National Consultative Conference (NCC) lauded the brave Somali National Army (SNA) and the local defense forces on the victories that they reached pertaining to the fight against terrorist groups. It also commended how the Somali Federal gov’t administered the structure and the task of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The National Consultative Conference also praised the voter registration which is smoothly underway in Banadir region. It has also encouraged to conduct the voter registration in the Federal Member States.
Decisions of the National Consultative Conference (NCC)
- The leaders have agreed upon to take full responsibility when it comes to the fight against terrorist groups and to stand by the brave Somali National Army (SNA).
- To respect the constitutional agencies in the country in order to strengthen the state system.
- The Federal Member States must work with the Independent Electoral Commission to expedite the voter registration to be conducted in the regional areas.
- To embrace and welcome the introduction of multi-party politics and to encourage political stakeholders that are keen to register.
- The ministry of interior, federal and reconciliation to put forward a suggestion regarding Jubaland regional administration which is in line with the constitution.
- SSC-Khaatumo to be officially recognized as a Federal Member States. The formation of the SSC-Khaatumo will be completed in a planned conference in line with the constitution.
