The Somali President, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has highlighted that the Somali Federal Government remains ready for dialogue and political solution to the differences between the opposition, noting that the doors of the government are always open for dialogue. The Somali President made the remarks in an interview with Dawan Television, emphasizing that the international community has been supporting Somalia for a long time, but he believes that the political issues in Somalia should be decided by the Somalis themselves. He stated, “The international community has worked with us for many years, specifically in the fields of technology and supporting the government in the implementation of reconstruction projects, but Somalia’s politics must be decided by Somalis.” He asserted that his government adopted a policy based on solving the internal affairs of Somalia within the country, instead of holding meetings and discussions abroad as happened in the past. Speaking about the negotiations, he disclosed that he still believes that a solution can be reached if both sides continue the dialogue. He said, “There is always an opportunity. The Federal government’s doors are open and it is ready to negotiate until a solution is reached.” He also spoke about a call from the former President of Somalia, Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo regarding the negotiations he called on to host. In response, he said that he did not receive an official request, but he is in constant contact and dialogue with the former leaders in the country.
