NISA seizes chemical substances that were being taken to Al-Shabaab

The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) seized chemical substances used in making explosions, and were being taken to Al-Shabab, according to the security agency. NISA said that these chemical substances were in more than hundred jericans, and were seized in a follow-up and investigation operation that has been going on for quite some time. According to the statement issued by the agency, Al-Shabab buried these chemicals in Jilib Marka area in Lower Shabelle region, after realizing that the security agency is monitoring their activities. The agency stated that the seizure of these chemicals is part of the efforts to disrupt the supply and the equipment used by Al-shabab in order to carry out insecurity attacks. This operation comes at a time when Somalia’s security forces have stepped up operations against Al-shabab, targeting the group’s facilities, supplies and activities.
