The President of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has traveled to Jawhar, the administrative seat of Hirshabelle regional state, as part of his visit coinciding with the final preparations for the one-person one-vote election scheduled for June 20, 2026. During his stay in Jawhar, the President is expected to hold consultative meetings with community leaders, intellectuals, local residents, and Hirshabelle regional officials. These meetings will focus on the election, security, development of social services, and strengthening the regional administration. The goal of the visit is to support state-building, community representation, and the democratization process in Somalia. Additionally, President Mohamud will inspect the general situation in Hirshabelle state and inaugurate development projects in Jawhar city, including infrastructure, social services, and the renovation of key government buildings. Security in Jawhar has been heightened in anticipation of the President’s arrival, with security forces intensifying operations to ensure safety in the city and areas he is due to visit. This visit comes at a crucial time for the Federal Government, as they are making significant efforts to implement the one-person one-vote system in Hirshabelle and Galmudug states, viewing it as a crucial step in the democratization process in Somalia.
