Former Somalia leaders: ” The National Consultative Conference is over.”

A press statement that was jointly issued by some of the previous leaders and politicians who strongly opposed the Somali Federal Gov’t have expressed their anxiety over the political stalemate in Somalia. The former leaders plus the opposition politicians confirmed in the press release that the National Consultative Conference is over.

They said that the incumbent Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has taken the wrong track instead he was supposed to bring together the Federal Gov’t, the regional administrations and the opposition politicians. They accused the President of making a political alliance while he was supposed to be a national leader. The Press statement went on to say that the country is in difficult situation and is facing major obstacles.

The statement further added that we are expecting the Somali President to offer a national dialogue to the Federal Gov’t, all Federal Member States, the opposition groups in order to prevent terrorist groups, and to reach a resolution to the political dispute due to the constitutional changes, elections and the poor leadership which led the Somali National Army (SNA) to be defeated.

They have warned the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to refrain from any acts that meddles the affairs of Jubaland state. They stated that the President wants to repress Jubaland administration. The Press release was signed by 16 former officials including former Somali President, Sheikh Shariif Ahmed, former Prime Ministers, Hassan Ali Khaire, Mohamed Hussein Roble, Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke and Abdi Faarah Shirdoon (Saacid).

They called on particularly Galmudug, Hirshabelle and Southwest state leaders to respect the public as their term in office expired. They urged to hold free and fair elections. They called on them to stay away from helping the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in his efforts in undermine the Federal System.
