The Spokesman of Somalia’s Police Force, Abdifatah Adan, has held a press conference in Mogadishu on Wednesday said that a group of criminals in which a court convicted, but later were released through community agreement have started to commit criminal offenses including murder and robbing the public. The spokesman said that the security forces nabbed three criminals who snatched mobile phones and stole other items from the public.
The police stated that the three armed criminals were arrested while they were drunk and fought over what the items that they robbed from the public in Mogadishu. The incident took place in Hamar Jajab district. He further gave details of a murder that took place in Hodan district particularly Waliyow Adde area.
He told that Lieutenant Abdulkadir Hussein Egal was brutally murdered. The police reported that three suspects in connection of the killing have been detained. He revealed that the police believe that they are one hundred percent sure that they committed the crime. On May 9, 2025, the spokesman disclosed that the police apprehended suspects who killed an individual. He stated that the perpetrators of the murder will be brought before the court soon. He added that the suspects in connection of the murder are under police custody. He stated that the corpse of the Lieutenant was set on fire.
The police nabbed the criminal who was responsible for the murder of Faisal Abdulahi Takar.
Police further reported that they held two other suspects who assisted the criminal. The spokesman has called on the public that they should not interfere the justice once those who commit criminal offenses are brought before the court. He discouraged from the public to refrain from trying to release the criminals on bail or pay money to secure their release. He announced that those who commit crime in Mogadishu previously committed criminal offenses and were released after their families pay the compensation of the individuals that they murdered.
