Reports from the Lower Jubba region say that Al-Shabab deployed reinforcements to battle zones in the region, specifically in areas between Afmadow and Janay Abdalle settlements. Al-Shabab’s reinforcements originated from Jilib District in Middle Jubba region, and have already reached Harboole and Miido settlements in Lower Jubba region, while crossing Mareeray settlement, where the Jubba River crosses. The main goal behind Al-Shabab’s reinforcements is how to open a new front against Jubaland troops in the Harboole area in order to reduce the burden on their militias in Dhasheeg Waamo area. A few days, Somali Military in collaboration with Jubaland Dervish forces, who are receiving support from drones of international partners have commenced to bring an end to Al-Shabab militias fighting in the Haud area in Dhasheeg Waamo, which resulted in Al-Shabab fighters bringing in new fighters from behind, who are trying to expand in the forest area in Dhasheeg Waano. Sources say that troops helping those in Dhasheeg Waamo area are preventing Al-Shabab reinforcements in Harboole areas. Harboole is 40 km from Afmadow, while it is 80 km from Kismayo. This area is significant for the travel between Afmadow and Kismayo. There is also a road that goes to Mareeray area, and it is one of the places where Lower and Middle Jubba regions are connected. Although Harboole is a strategic area, the military seems to consider Dhasheeg more crucial than Harbolle, as the capture of Dhasheeg Waamo can be a high burden on Al-Shabab’s presence in Jilib District, which is then a major stronghold for Al-Shabab in the country. However, the operation in the Lower Jubba region entered its seventh day. Jubaland Army Spokesman, Colonel, Mohamed Farah Dahir, said Wednesday that the military operation in the region started on the 13th of this month, and it is continuing in the country.
