For the past few days, operations against the Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab were underway in Jubaland settlements, while Jubaland security forces along with the Somali National Army are currently carrying out anti-Al-Shabab offensives in Dhasheeg-Waamo in Lower Jubba region. According to the Jubaland press, these operations include ground assaults as well as airstrikes, targeting bases and areas where the militant group of Al-Shabab used to organize their attacks. Jubaland further disclosed that the troops seized weapons and military equipment during the operation. The Military Command further revealed that the operations will continue until the group is flushed out from areas under their control. Jubaland information minister, Abdifatah Mohamed Mukhtar, commended the troops that took part in the military operations, indicating that their efforts are aimed in ensuring the security and the stability in the region. The Minister articulated that major progress has been made, which indicates the capability of the troops. He urged them to continue the operations until lasting peace is achieved and Al-Shabab is removed from settlements in Jubaland.
