Jubaland authorities in Somalia have deployed additional troops to war zones in the Lower Jubba region in order to reinforce the ongoing military operations, where troops are battling Al-Shabab militants.

For the last few days, the military operation has been taking place in some areas between Afmadow and Kismayo, specifically between Afmadow and Janay Abdalle.

Reinforcement troops left the area of Janay Abdalle yesterday, which separates Kismayo and Afmadow, after they departed from Kismayo with military vehicles.

These military operations are jointly carried out by Danab Commandos, 11th brigade and 43rd Division of the Somali National Army, along with Jubaland Dervish forces, who commenced a clearing operation in the areas of Bibi, Qumbi, Miido, Harboole, Weel-Maarow, and Dhasheeg Waamo.

On Thursday, these troops were seen off in a military camp that is situated on the outskirts of northern Kismayo, and arrived in Janay Abdalle on Friday, where they reached the frontlines, with Janay Abdalle being the headquarters where the officers are leading the anti-Al-Shabab offensives, and now they are putting the biggest burden on Al-Shabab militias.

Jubaland Security Minister, Mr. Yusuf Hussein Osman, known as Dhumale, speaking to the troops, who were deployed to the frontlines on Thursday afternoon, urged them to show resilience, patriotism, and liberate the areas that are not under the control of Jubaland authority.

Conversely, airstrikes are reportedly to have taken place this Friday in some areas of Harboole, Qumbi, and Dhasheeg Waamo. Reports further say that the militias are operating there.

Jubaland Army Spokesman, Colonel, Mohamed Farah Dahir, said earlier that international partners are involved in the military offensives as they are assisting the army in the ongoing onslaught against Al-Shabab.

The offensive, which appears to be a large-scale one-the army is expanding its presence into new areas and the plan in place is to eradicate Al-Shabab.
