Somaliland Government will not host Afghan refugees fleeing the country after the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul. This was disclosed in an interview that Somaliland’s Information Minister, Hon. Sulieman Ali Kore gave to Somali BBC by formally debunking reports published by AFP which claimed that Somaliland is ready to host Afghan refugees. Minister Kore said: “It is likely that the news is solely rumored from diplomats and journalists. We do not have such news that SL is ready to host Afghan refugees on a temporary basis. The news is speculated that has not been received from reliable sources.”  Spokesman of the foreign ministry who was anonymous was quoted by AFP on 27th August that Somaliland is hosting Afghan refugees who are fleeing from the country after the Taliban took control of Kabul. Somaliland is not internationally recognized but hosts hundreds of refugees from Yemen, Syria and Ethiopia.
