Somalian President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Kampala on Friday on an official working visit to deepen diplomatic ties and enhance cooperation between Somalia and Uganda in key areas, including security, trade and development.
The Somali President is due to hold high level talks with Ugandan counterpart, Yuweri Museveni, to discuss enhancing economic, diplomatic, and security cooperation between the two countries.
Efforts to fight against terrorist groups is on high on the agenda of the talks, particularly Al Shabab which pose a security threat to the regional stability.
Somali Presidential Spokesman, Mr. Abdirahman Aden Ali said that the visit highlights Somalia and Uganda’s mutual interests and shared goals.
“This visit is a testament to the strong and growing relationship between our two countries,” Ali said. “It provides an opportunity to explore new avenues of collaboration and to reaffirm our commitment to peace, security, and development in the region.”
The two leaders are expected to sign agreements deepening bilateral cooperation in critical areas such as trade, education, and security. Officials from both governments have indicated that these agreements are part of broader efforts to boost regional stability and support Somalia’s ongoing state-building process.
