Somali Army Chief embarks on an inspection tour, boosting troop Moral

Somali Army Chief Brigadier General Odawaa Yusuf Rage visited Somali National Army (SNA) based in districts in Middle Shabelle region. The Somali troops backed by local clan fighters recaptured strategic towns from Alshabab militant groups. Raage’s visit aimed to boost the moral of his troops, who retook several strategic districts after military onslaught were launched against al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Alshabab. The Army Chief delivered a speech by encouraging the troops. Mr. Odowaa said that the allied forces have made a huge progress for a short spell when it comes to the anti-terrorism operations.

He reiterated that it is time to bring the terrorist group to an end. General Odowaa said: ” The SNA besieged Alshabab militant groups for two years. It is time to further intensify and continue the operations against the terrorist group. The Somali troops and allied forces must show unity and strongly fight against the enemy. Alshabab is on its last legs. We need to bring them to an end. Every nation has individuals that shed blood for the sake of the integrity of others.” The Army General sent a warning to the Somali troops not to vacate the districts under their control. He urged that the allied forces must work together to defeat and liberate districts from Alshabab. The speech by the Army Chief comes at a time when Alshabab increased its attacks against Somali troops based in Middle Shabelle region.
