Mediation Council Meets with Somaliland Opposition Groups to Resolve election impasse

The Mediation Committee compromising of key businessmen elders had last evening met with opposition parties in a bid to break a deal between opposition and Somaliland gov’t.
The officials from the mediation committee and the representatives of the opposition parries did not disclose the outcome of the gathering  convened at a hotel in Hargeisa.
The meeting was attended by party leader, UCID, Faisal Ali Warabe and other officials from both UCID & Wadani parties.
The volunteer mediation consisting of key businessmen elders and religious leaders have taken up themselves to break a deal between the president and his ruling Kulmiye party and the opposition groups who have disputed the recently sworn in electoral commissioners.
The meeting comes days after members of the committee met with second vice chairman of Kulmiye party, Ahmed Abdi Dheere, at the party headquarters in Hargeisa.
The mediation committee spearheading efforts to resolve the protracted stalemate that has caused the political deadlock triggered by the dispute over the sworn in of election commissioners even as the volunteer council promise to solve the impasse between the parties in the country.
Opposition party Wadani has denounced what they call the illegal dictatorial actions of Somaliland gov’t.
