37 Ugandan & Burundian Peacekeepers in Somalia test positive for Covid-19

37 Ugandan and Burundian peacekeepers under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The infected soldiers were isolated at Halane camp and their condition is a matter of military intelligence. The confirmed cases among Amisom troops reduces efforts and risks the key operations aimed at flushing out al-shabab militant group from their stronghold in Somalia. Amisom has reduced its operations in the fight against al-shabab extremist group in order to avoid unnecessary exposure since the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19 in Somalia.
