Somtel expands services to Mogadishu

Somaliland-based telecoms firm Somtel has expanded its 3G and 4G mobile networks to Somalia’s capital Mogadishu and other parts of the country, reports Daily Nation. The firm, which is part of the Dahabshiil Group, has also launched its eDahab mobile money transfer service for customers in these new locations, while announcing that it will begin offering the public shares to buy in the company.

‘Somtel will bring new and vital services, including the latest voice and data services and fibre-optic technology at competitive rates to customers in Mogadishu and other places,’ commented Dahabshiil Group founder and chairman Mohammed Said Duale, adding: ‘eDahab mobile payments and Dahabshiil Bank, which are compliant with local and international laws, will ensure customers access more banking and financial services. Customers will now access new and better services at competitive rates.’
