The National Intelligence and Security Agency of Somalia (NISA) announced that security forces have apprehended a man named Hassan Nur Muse—also known as “Makane” or “Ali Sabti”—in the Hodan district of Mogadishu, accusing him of planning an act that would compromise security.
A press release from NISA stated that the agency’s personnel, in coordination with the police, conducted a joint operation in the KPP neighborhood after detecting the movements of the suspect.
According to the agency, the man attempted to flee and discarded a hand grenade he was carrying; however, security forces were ultimately able to take him into custody unharmed.
NISA noted that this arrest is part of ongoing operations aimed at strengthening security in the capital and preventing attacks planned by groups such as Al-Shabaab and Daesh (ISIS).
The agency also urged the public to share information with security forces regarding any activities suspected of posing a threat to security.
