The Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, Brigadier General Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan, announced that four suspects have been apprehended in connection with the killing of the late Ibrahim Abdillahi Aar—an incident that occurred on October 5, 2026, in the Kodayare area of the Las Geel district.
The Commander stated that elders, traditional leaders, and prominent figures from the Abokor Ciise clan had made significant efforts to ensure the peaceful handover of the suspects to security authorities; however, they ultimately refused to hand them over when they reached the Dacar-budhuq area.
Consequently, the Police Force took the four suspects into custody—including one individual who is a member of the police force itself—following a request from the elders for the police to take action. The suspects are now in police custody.
Abdirahman Abdillahi Hassan expressed his gratitude to the elders for their peace-building efforts, noting that the police had respected their role. He added, however, that from this point forward, the police will fully exercise their mandate to ensure internal security.
