Somaliland: Security Heightened Ahead of vote of confidence for NEC Members

Somaliland parliament is expected to approve newly appointed National Electoral Commission Members today. Wadani party in Somaliland has withdrawn its member after being disappointed with a members that president Bihi has included in upcoming NEC. Mr. Abdirashid who has sparked row between Kulmiye and Wadani parties became the point of contention. He is accused of being a Kulmiye party member. The internal affairs of Somaliland parliament held two day meetings with 6 members for further vetting ahead of the parliament vote. Kulmiye governing party is lobbying to see that the parliament will pass all member with overwhelming vote. Wadani party is doing all it can to stop the approval of Abdirashid Riyo Raac as new NEC members. Parliament security beefed up ahead of the vote of confidence for the newly elected members of the election commission. Heavily armed security forces deployed in the parliament building as roads leading to the premise closed from traffic
