Somaliland: Quality Control officials launch investigation into WFP food storage facilities in Berbera

The Quality Control Commission officials have conducted an investigation into World Food Program food storage facilities in the port city of Berbera on Wednesday. The chairman of the commission, Hon. Musa Hasan was leading the team that launched the inspection. The mission was to burn expired food stored in WFP’s warehouses in Berbera. Having Somaliland is said to consume 90 percent of food items imported from overseas through the port of Berbera. The Quality control commission is accused of failing to live up its duties to intercept expired food items brought to the country by reckless traders.

Local traders face the accustion that they import food items where the expired dates have been altered which have a health hazard to its citizens.
