Somaliland Police Heighten security ahead of Eid-Al-Fitr

SL Police have taken additional security measures across the country ahead of Eid-Al-Fitr to facilitate the observing of the festival in a peaceful and safe environment. Security forces have intensified security operations in the major markets of the country whereby locals are coming in droves to shop prior to the start of Eid-Al-Fitr. SL Police have vouched that security operations are designed to prevent theft and street robbery. SL Police Chief, Mohmed Saqadhi Dabagale has inspected a market to the south of Hargeisa to assess the security apparatus in place ahead of the Eid-Al-Fitr. Although SL Government has not commented on the date the festival is to commence, but it is predicted that it will commence either on Tuesday or Wednesday. The Police Chief while strolling the market have run into business street vendors and enquired about the safety and the security. He warned businessmen and their staffers to shun touching and holding women’s’ clothes.

He sent congratulatory message to all citizens who will soon mark Eid-Al Fitr. Police Chief further appealed the public to cooperate with security officers and report any suspects that may instigate insecurity in the country. Police members are patrolling different streets, and important points.
