The Minister of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, inaugurated the new Maternal and Child Health (MCH) wing at the Borama General Hospital, a project funded by the Camuud Foundation.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Adan Geedi Qayad; the Minister of Telecommunications, Mr. Abdisalan Hussein Awale; the Director of the Hargeisa General Hospital; the Governor of the Awdal Region; various regional and district officials; the Awdal Regional Health Coordinator; the Director of the Borama General Hospital; and representatives from the Camuud Foundation.
The Minister of Health on the Significance of the Facility
The Minister of Health Development, Mr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, emphasized the importance of advancing maternal and child health services. He noted that this new facility reflects ongoing efforts to enhance both the quality and the scope of medical services provided at the Borama General Hospital.
The Minister highlighted that the availability of healthcare facilities tailored to the needs of mothers and children plays a vital role in the overall development of health services. He also highlighted the need to further strengthen efforts to develop healthcare infrastructure and improve the quality of services that the people of Somaliland receive at health facilities.
Commendation for the Camuud Foundation
The Minister also commended the role played by various organizations and health partners in advancing healthcare services, noting the importance of collaboration between the Ministry of Health Development and the entities that support the development of healthcare infrastructure.
This new Maternal and Child Health (MCH) unit is part of broader efforts to improve maternal and child healthcare services and enhance the quality of care provided at the Borama General Hospital, ultimately strengthening the facility’s capacity to deliver high-quality medical services.
