MOGADISHU–Somali authority has stopped issuing passports and identity cards for a week.
This was revealed by the agency responsible for immigration and nationality for Somalia in a statement it has released on Sunday.
The agency has cited technical issues for the stoppage of travel document and identity card issuance.
This has prompted to halt the service and operations in a matter of a week.
“Technical issues and reforming the travel document issuance process, we inform all citizens wherever they are that starting from the 27th of January, 2020 (Monday) to February 2nd, 2020 (Sunday), has stopped accepting travel document applications.”
It was last year when the immigration and nationality agency had faced with the same scenario after the agreement it had entered to the company which was responsible for printing the identity cards and passports had expired.
