Somalia asks Kenya and Interpol to assist the arrest of Jubaland security minister

Somalia’s Federal Government has asked Interpol and Kenya to help detain Abdirashid Hassan Abdinur also known as Abdirashid Janan.

The security minister in the regional administration of Jubaland, who reportedly escaped from prison in Mogadishu.

The Somali police issued a statement asking Kenya to assist with arrest and extradition of Jublanad security minister, Abdirashid Janan now in Bulo town of Balad Hawo from Nairobi.

Reports indicate that Jubaland security minister had arrived in Beled Hawo in Gedo region near Kenya’s border with Somalia and received a warm welcome from local residents.

Kenyan government should arrest Jubaland security minister, Janan and hand over to Somalia for prosecution, a statement from the Somali police.

This comes as Human Rights body, Amnesty Int’l in a statement issued on Monday said Janan who escaped from custody in Mogadishu last week must be deported back to Somalia to face trail.
