Six people belonging to the same family were killed after armed assailants attacked their residence in Mandera town.
The attack which resulted the death of six people from the same family is linked to retaliatory killings and follows an animosity in the rural areas between the families living in Mandera town in Northeastern Kenya.
Abdilahi Ma’alin Hassan who is the brother of the man his family was killed has told the Somali BBC that the family of his brother was massacred. He further told that besides those killed, the number of people injured in the attack were four.
He said: “The people were nomads. They had camels and livestock. They were innocent people.” He further revealed that a man was previously killed in a family feud before this attack.
The two incidents are believed that they are linked to revenge killings which were taking place in the rural areas in Mandera town. The armed assailants who carried out the killing escaped from the area with motorbikes. The assailants whereabouts are not known.
