Police confirmed nabbing several assailants that raided Borama police station early on Monday. Police deputy commissioner, Brigadier General, Farah Mohamed Mireh, has said that several of the gunmen have fled and crossed into Ethiopia following police chase. Deputy Police commissioner has further stated that there are no casualties in the attack which lasted for 30 minutes. The assailants and the on duty security forces exchanged fire. Ex-rebel, Sultan Abubakar Elmi Wabar’s group has claimed the responsibility of carrying out the attack. Earlier this week, gunmen attacked a government vehicle while traveling in the road between Dilla and Borama. There is a growing security concern in Borama following the formation of a rebel group that took arms against the current leadership headed by president Bihi. Sultan Wabar formed the rebel group that also took arms against Silanyo’s administration but later entered into agreement laid its arms.
