Local Clan Forces Kill 20 Al-Shabab militants including a senior leader

The local clan forces based in Alkawsar town have conducted a well-planned operation targeting Al-Shabab militants stationed in Nuur Gadow in Middle Shabelle province.

A brief statement issued by Somali Federal Gov’t confirmed that the local clan forces dismantled Al-Shabab’s military command in Nuur Gadow.

The local clan forces have killed 20 Al-Shabab militants including a senior leader, but the Somali gov’t has not released the name of the Al-Shabab leader killed in the operation and what was his responsibility.

Reports from Lower Jubba Province say that Jubaland Security Forces and Danab Commandos successfully conducted an operation in the North of the province, where they targeted members of Al-Shabab militants.

Reports further said that the operation was carefully planned, and troops attacked al-Shabab bases in Qabri Shariif in Lower Jubba region.

Commanders who led the operation have announced that large number of Al-Shabab militants were killed in the operation, while others injured during the clashes have escaped from the area.

The Commanders further told that the security forces have dismantled bases where Al-Shabab militants were hiding in the area.

Commanders said that they also foiled attacks the group were planning to carry out.

Jubaland troops are currently conducting operations against Al-Shabab militants in Lower Jubba region.

The operations are aimed to tighten the security of districts which under the control of Jukbaland.
