Immigration Agency Intercepts Youths planning illegal migration to Europe, Asia and Africa

Somalia’s Immigration and Citizenship Agency has announced that it has intensified its efforts to combat illegal migration in order to save Somali youths who are willing to take a perilous journey to Europe, Asia and Africa.

The Agency has said in a statement that for the past couple of weeks, it has intercepted youngsters aged between 18 to 25, who were detained while they were trying to illegally travel to Europe, Asia and Africa.

The Agency at the same time said that the for past three months of 2025, it prevented 124 Somali youth to leave the country.

The statement went on to say that it has recorded the names of hundreds of youngsters who were planning to illegally migrate to overseas.

It is confirmed that the agency has successfully stopped the youth from leaving the country.

On the other hand, the agency has said that it is conducting broad based awareness on the risks of illegal migration so that the youth fully understand the danger when it comes to illegal migration.

The Immigration and Citizenship Agency has called on the parents and the community to work closely with security agencies in order to dismantle and prevent the networks involving the illegal migration of Somali youth.
