Reports from Hiiraan region indicate there is movement of troops in the east of the region after the militant group of Al-Shabab late last night seized Aboorey which is under the administration of Buuloburde district.
Somali Military Command particularly the 27th Division of the Somali National Army (SNA) executed troop movements in the towns of Beledweyne, Halgan, Maxaas and Buuloburde towns.
Reports further say that the Somali Military Command are mobilizing units of the Somali National Army (SNA), and local clan Ma’awisley forces in order to flush out the militant group of AL-Shabab from Aboorey.
The Somali troops are currently stationed in Caddow Gurey and Yasooman which are not far from Aboorey settlement.
The media understands that the troop mobilization underway is aimed to reinforce troop positions in nearby areas in Aboorey in order to liberate from Al-shabab militants.
Sources say that the Al-Shabab fighters that took over Aboorey originally were stationed in Jiicibow using Hawd area in Beero-yabaal.
Jicibow which locates on the bank of Shabelle River has a strategic importance for Al-Shabab and is a route where the militants cross from East and West of Hiiraan region.
The Somali troops backed by local clan forces reinforced their presence in Jicibow although the troops eased the pressure after Al-Shabab militants launched relentless attacks against bases housing Somali troops in Middle Shabelle region.
The attacks delayed the plan in place which was aimed to drive out Al-shabab militants from the West of Hirshabelle state.
Al-shabab was in control of the two provinces in West of Hirshabelle state for the past 10 years.
Lawmaker Ibrahim Ma’alimu, who is a member of Somali Federal Parliament, told that Al-Shabab militants were digging trenches in Aboorey village this morning.
The MP further said that Aboorey locates in a strategic area and Al-Shabab intends to move forward to Yasooman in order to open the road between Yasooman and Maxaas.
He said that the main objective is to find a route where reinforcement can reach Al-shabab militants based in Galmudug state.
Ma;alimu warned that elders who are speaking on behalf of Al-Shabab are dividing the local residents in order Al-Shabab’s plan to open the route should succeed.
