Lawmakers of Somaliland House of Representatives have condemned with the strongest possible terms the visit that Somali PM, Hamze Abdi Barre will embark to Lasanod.
The first session of the House of Representatives after returning from recess has officially resumed.
They talked about the visit that Hamze Barre will pay to Lasanod.
The lawmakers have stressed that Lasanod is part and parcel of Somaliland.
They said that it is unacceptable that an official from Somali Federal Gov’t to travel to Sool’s regional capital Lasanod.
The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Ali Hamud Jibril who spoke to the media said that the republic of Somaliland and Somalia are two independent states.
He further revealed that Somaliland has nothing to do with Somalia.
In addition, he reiterated that they will defend the country and further told that the parliament will hold a meeting about the issue.
Other lawmakers who have spoken have pointed out that the visit that Somalia’s PM will pay to Lasanod is a clear violation of the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Somaliland.
They said that the move will create political and security tensions.
On the other hand, the administration that is in charge in Sool’s capital Lasanod, has welcomed PM’s visit to Lasanod.
The administration said that the move indicates the support of Somalia’s Federal Gov’t to Lasanod authority.
The administration claims that Sool, Sanaag and Ayn are part of the Federal Gov’t of Somalia.
The Foreign Minister of Somalia, Ahmed Ma’alin Fiqi said that PM’s visit to Lasanod is crucial for the unity of Somalia.
