The al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab on Monday broadcasted a video for the first time whereby they are sending encouraging messages to the fighters stationed in Al-Madow Mountain in Sanaag province.
The video which was disseminated in the group’s affiliated media websites showed the fighters praising the jihad and pledged to continue the war with Puntland.
The dissemination of the video is seen as part of Al-Shabab’s efforts to strengthen the group’s support and recruit new fighters.
Puntland authority has planned to commence operations against Al-Shabab militants in Al-Madow Mountain.
The dissemination of the video comes at a time when Puntland is currently conducting operations in Al-Miskaad Mountain range which are aimed to eliminate Deash group from the Mountain in Bari region.
Puntland regional authority has not so far spoken the new video that Al-Shabab broadcasted.
Sources within Puntland army say that the militant group of Al-Shabab is preparing to withstand the operations that Puntland troops will conduct.
Puntland President Saed Deni recently said that once the operations in Al-Miskaad Mountain range are wrapped up, the operations to flush out Al-Shabab militants in Al-Madow Mountain will start.
Security experts pointed out that the dissemination of the video is part of Al-Shabab’s large strategy to seek the attention of world media.
